The Climate Solutions Prize

Fostering Climate Innovation

The Climate Solutions Prize is an annual initiative to incentivize climate innovation, granting over $2 million in prizes to researchers and startups that offer solutions to the global climate crisis. The initiative culminates in the Climate Solutions Prize Festival, a gathering of government, business, and non-profit organizations dedicated to driving innovation in the climate-tech ecosystem.

The Climate Solutions Prize was launched in Israel and has now grown to be a platform for change in Canada and beyond.

WE ARE CHOOSING CLIMATE

The decision to choose climate extends beyond supporting climate tech innovation—it is a conscious choice we must make in every action we take. That is why we chose to be as sustainable as possible and to offset the carbon emissions generated by the Climate Solutions Festival with the help of your contribution.

Together with Israeli startup ECO-OS’s carbon intelligence software solution, we have reduced the carbon footprint of the Festival as much as possible, tracking emissions across the event, decreasing them when possible, and offsetting the remainder, creating a balanced carbon impact event.

Here is a snapshot of how we Choose Climate:

We  have reduced the operational emissions of the event by 20% in categories such as:

Energy: the event is powered by solar energy with the help of Doral Energy, replacing conventional Israeli grid electricity.
Food: A meat-free menu is offered throughout the event.
Waste: Organic waste is turned into compost, cooking gas, and biofertilizer with the help of Homebiogas. The cooking gas will then be utilized to power the Hadassah Neurim Youth Village in Israel.
Water: All of the water consumed during the event is being produced from humidity in the air utilizing solar energy, thanks to Watergen.
Transportation: We have arranged collaborative transportation options, including a shuttle from main cities and from the local train station.

As not all emissions can be reduced, we are fully offsetting the remainder, including the ones from the flights and accommodation of our international guests, by supporting the forestation of the Yatir Forest in collaboration with KKL-JNF with 550 trees.
